How The Como Came to Life
How The Como Came to Life
It started with a piece of silk, an idea, and an evening on Lake Como.
The Como was never part of a carefully planned collection.
I was living on Lake Como, working on something completely different, when a piece of silk caught my attention. I had purchased it simply because I loved it, without knowing exactly what I would create with it.
The color reminded me of the lake in the early evening, when the sun begins to disappear behind the mountains and everything takes on a softer glow.
So I started creating.
First came the scarf.
Then, looking at the silk I had left, I decided to make a coordinating bag.
And just like that, The Como began.
Why a scarf and a bag?
There is something special about two pieces created from the same fabric.
The scarf brings softness and movement. The bag gives the look structure and purpose. Together, they create a sense of intention without feeling overly styled.
That is what I loved about the original Como.
It felt effortless, but complete.
It also represented something I want every Fyetka design to offer: the ability to make a woman feel beautiful and confident while still feeling completely like herself.
Why I named it The Como
The name is personal.
Lake Como was not simply the backdrop where I created the first piece. Living there influenced the way I looked at fabric, craftsmanship, beauty, and the process of creating something by hand.
I found inspiration everywhere.
In the water. In the mountains. In architecture. In the colors that changed throughout the day.
The first Como could only have been created during that chapter of my life, so naming it after the place where it began felt natural.
How The Como has evolved
Like anything created by hand, The Como has evolved with me.
The construction has become more refined. The finishing has improved. I have learned more about how different fabrics and colors behave, and every piece teaches me something that influences the next.
But the heart of The Como has stayed the same.
Each one is created by hand, one piece at a time.
There will always be subtle differences because that is part of the beauty of something handmade.
And perhaps my favorite part is hearing that women actually wear their Como pieces again and again.
I never wanted to create something beautiful simply to be looked at.
I wanted to create something beautiful enough to remember and wearable enough to become part of your life.
That is The Como.
